‘I want to go more abstract’... ‘I want to loosen up’....’I don’t know how to start’
If any of the above statements sounds familiar then this intensive 3 day art course is for you.
We will start with what we can see and record through drawings and photographs in the beautiful environment in and around Moorbath Farmhouse, which offers the Dorset landscape, characterful buildings, trees, the sky and horses, all awaiting your observation. These subjects will be our starting point.
Then we will take our recorded observations on a journey from realism to abstraction. Using scale, mark-making, colour, composition, mixed media, painting and collage we will make the shift from realism to abstraction.
We will look at, discuss and reference the work of other artists who employ different methods of abstraction in their work.
By Friday morning you will be thinking differently about what you see and will have a series of methods to take home with you and continue to use confidently in your own work.
You will also take home your sketchbook bursting with drawings and experiments and at least one, but probably more than one, finished abstract canvas.
Beware! This course will change the way you think and work!
